George Rose is a Melbourne-based artist best known for her large-scale murals and vibrant colour palette. After an initial education in design, Rose completed her formal training at art school before pursuing a full-time practice as a muralist.
Using bright, surreal colours and her signature gradients, Rose’s work focuses on gestural mark-making, often paired with endemic botanicals. Her work explores the fragility of nature, featuring endangered flora and fauna, and the transformation of the micro into a macro-scale.
Rose has completed commissions for a diverse range of local and international clients, including Disney, Instagram, Jansport and Tik Tok. When she’s not working on commercial projects, Rose travels the mural festival circuit. Her work can be found across the globe from Australia to the US, and across Asia and Europe.
Rose has proved herself to be one of Australia’s leading street artists. She has recently been honoured with winning the 2020 Resene Total Colour Visual Art award, and in 2019, she was awarded the ‘Best Mural’ for the Street Art Australia Prize.
