Nick Nelson began his prolific career as a fashion design major at The Fashion Institute of Technology. During his time at FIT Nick worked at famed costume designer Patricia Fields’ iconic downtown store House of Field, where he was introduced to New York’s top stylists and costume designers who would later become his collaborators.

Nick has held Contributing Fashion Editor positions at Harper’s Bazaar Latin America and ELLE Latin America, and his editorial work has been featured in V Magazine, Vogue Italia, Lui Magazine, Numéro Magazine, and The Impression.

Along with his extensive editorial work, Nick has shaped numerous advertising campaigns for Victoria’s Secret, Lancôme, Adidas, Target, and H&M.

Nick helped influence the new phenomena around street styling by incorporating it in press appearances for some of the industry’s top models including Bella Hadid, Taylor Hill, Karen Elson, Alek Wek, Emily Didonato, Candice Swanepoel, and Elsa Hosk.

Brands rely on Nick for his unique eye for red carpet appearances. Notably working with Victoria’s Secret to conceive inventive ways of incorporating lingerie into daywear. This involved styling outfits for models to wear on morning television and late-night appearances to help promote new lingerie and perfumes for the brand.

Nick's work as a costume designer can be seen on the television drama series Empire as well as numerous broadcast commercials. He brings years of knowledge and experience with an astute understanding of fashion with all its layers. His ability to create chic and classic elegance has landed him at the forefront of today's new fashion guard.

Nick Nelson is currently a professor at Parsons School of Design, where he teaches courses of his own creation based on his years of experience. Some of the topics include fashion styling, cultural appropriation, and the importance of diversity and inclusion.
