Tom Corbett Unveils Beauty for The Knot
When a couple is putting together their wedding, no detail can go untouched or unconsidered. Something borrowed, something blue, the adage starts, each item infused with its own history and superstitions. For some brides, one of the most important components to their day is the veil. Historically a symbol of chastity and purity, it is another extension of the style of the gown and something that must be carefully chosen. In the latest issue The Knot Tom Corbett got to photograph a feature on these crucial items. “Veils are really beautiful things and they always photograph well,” says Tom. “They have the movement, they have an energy, and a kind of mystique to them so they always look great on camera and we were lucky that we got a whole story full of them.”
The unique properties of veils allowed Tom to have fun with the shoot and play around with the medium. “All the things I love to do: shooting black and white, creating a beautiful light and a beautiful environment and nice to have some fun with movement,” says Tom. Tom’s passion comes through in the softness of this feature that imagines these women on their big day, while still creating the appropriate visuals for a fashion centered magazine. It’s a crucial balance to strike, an important line to walk, but no walk is as important as down the aisle.
