Three Generations of Fendi in Harper's Bazaar U.K. by Henry Bourne
Harper's Bazaar U.K. commissioned Henry Bourne to photograph three generations of the Fendi family for its latest issue. In her April editor's letter, Justine Picardie explains that the trio, included in the Victoria and Albert Museum's "Glamour of Italian Fashion" exhibit, opened a conversation at the magazine about ageless beauty. "We agreed that there is such a thing as timeless style," she writes, evident in Bourne's images.
He traveled to Rome to capture Anna Fendi, daughter Silvia Venturini Fendi, and granddaughter Delfina Delettrez at their historic estate. "I was extremely lucky to get them together – even for such a short amount of time – given their busy schedules," Bourne said. "I shot the main portrait in the garden; we were fortunate to have a sunny day in December." He utilized a selection of spaces on the grounds, combining natural and artificial light. "The different scenes were prepared well in advance so the women could walk directly on set and we'd be able to work without delay."
