Celerie Kemble Decks the Halls for Douglas Friedman and Harper's Bazaar
Harper's Bazaar sent Douglas Friedman to the Adirondack home of interior designers Celerie Kemble and her mom, Mimi McMakin, for its December edition of "The Fashionable Life." The duo turned the authentic log cabin into a series of picture-perfect Christmas scenes – in August. "It's not the easiest task to channel yuletide spirit when it's 100 degrees and humid outside," Friedman remarked, "but Celerie and her mother are super creative and pay attention to each detail. They were even playing holiday music."
Friedman pointed out that the guest bedroom is wallpapered in real birch bark; however his favorite picture is of Kemble seated on the front porch. "At the very end of the day, I stepped outside, grabbed Celerie, and threw a sweater on her – it all happened so quickly that her hair was still tucked in. I love those moments in photography, when the least expected becomes the most fantastic."
