Diageo came to Vault49 with the brief to develop a packaging concept that clearly communicated the delicious lightness of almond milk, while also delivering the delightful decadence that Baileys promises. We gladly accepted the challenge and focused all our efforts on creating a new design icon worthy of the Baileys brand.

Pushing the envelope, we dared to take the iconic black bottle into a natural white color – a first for the brand – to immediately communicate the lightness of an almond milk variant and ensure shelf stand-out.

Additionally, we broke out of the standard symmetrical label architecture with a sleeve that allowed the loose watercolor motif to playfully wrap around the bottle.

Inspired by the promise of guilt-free indulgence and the evolving visual language of popular almond milk products, we looked to bring spontaneity and playfulness to life through a natural watercolor illustration with touches of luxurious gold to keep the decadent vibes flowing.

Baileys Almande launched in 2016, and Shanken News credits the product (alongside another Vault49 designed line extension, Baileys Pumpkin Spice) with returning the brand to sales growth.
