Bio:

Brian Doben was born and raised in Brooklyn New York. He graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology at the top of his class. After graduation Doben headed back to Manhattan to assist photographic titans such as Annie Liebovitz, Richard Avenon, Steven Meisel, Kurt Markus and Mary Ellen Mark. At the age of 25, armed with four years of assisting experience, Brian set out on his own. He began shooting for Madison, Paper, and New York Magazine. In the decade since, Brian has become well known for his fashion and celebrity portraiture assignments, which have taken him to all seven continents. Editorial clients such as Vanity Fair, Travel & Leisure,  and Town & Country have sent him to exotic locales far and wide such as Madagascar, Argentina, Antarctica, New Zealand and the Himalayan Kingdom of Bhutan. Advertising clients like Monet Jewelry, DSW (Designer Shoe Warehouse), Lily of France and Sony have benefitted from Brian’s keen ability to shoot natural moments and put together complex composites. To date Brian has photographed 30 fashion and celebrity covers. Brian has received various honors for his editorial work, including the Society of Publication Designers Merit Award in Photography, as well as numerous awards from American Photography and Photo District News. In 2000, Brian was chosen for PDN’s special “30 under 30” issue, named Kodak’s Photographer of the Year. He was also the first photographer to be featured in the “Emerging Artist Series” website by Kodak and PDN. Brian’s work is part of the New York City Museum’s permanent collection as it appears in the Ogilvy & Mather book, “BROTHERHOOD” venerating the firehouses of New York City post September eleventh.
