New York native Raymond Hom received a BFA at the School of Visual Arts before apprenticing a roster of still-life photographers including Sang An, Marcus Nilsson, Con Poulos, John Kernick, Anna Williams, Ditte Isager, and Christopher Baker. He was brought on staff at Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia, then went out on his own. He now counts Bloomingdales, J.Crew, Origins, Cole Haan, Target, the Wall Street Journal, Conde Nast Traveler, People, and Food Network as clients.
Hom pulls viewers into an image by keeping it simple and letting the assembled items speak for themselves. He aims to relay the same sensations that he experiences upon seeing an object to his audience, focusing on its colors and movement.
