Tom Corbett & Co. Usher in the Holiday Season for Millenia

A Tom Corbett-led B&A team put out two editorials for the holiday issue of The Mall at Millenia Magazine: "Modern Classics" and "Iconic Beauty."

"We take an annual field trip to the mall in Orlando to meet with the marketing team, review the previous issue, discuss what's new and what stores are opening, and which are remodeling," explained stylist Emma Pritchard. "2013 saw the launch of numerous new stores, including Prada and Saint Laurent, and with such a wealth of designers to work with, we wanted to emphasize the iconic ensembles and craftsmanship that each is known for ... thus, the concept 'Timeless Elegance' was born."

Pritchard presented the theme to Corbett and prop stylist Tara Marino, and let them come up with their own interpretations. "For the 'Modern Classics' fashion story – which used a lot of old Hollywood poses – Tom brought in dramatic lighting that merged that classic brand of glamour with the holiday-time glamour of Millenia." Titilayo Bankole provided the manicures.

The "Iconic Beauty" spread marked the group's first-ever beauty story for the magazine, after three-plus years of collaborating with the shopping center. "Tom's casting was spot-on," Pritchard noted. "We all did a double-take when the model, Olivia, transformed into Elizabeth Taylor. The leather-and-mink fur Bally coat pushed it over the top."

Tara Marino Sets Up a Rainbow for Elle

Elle enlisted Tara Marino to build a pair of sets for "She's a Rainbow," an editorial in the mag's October issue. "One had a plain wall, but in most of the images is a panel I tiled with two-by-two-foot squares," said the prop stylist. "I rounded the edges and painted them. Then, I switched out the floors – we had a linoleum tiles and I found it interesting to use an all-pink floor with one blue tile in it ... it made the furniture pop."

Marino explained: "I'm first sent wardrobe choices, and from there I determine what would look best with each outfit and go shopping." Many of the pieces – including the lace-metal lamp, accordion-like peacock chair, pylon chair, and white garment chair – came from Italian manufacturer Cappellini's Soho shop. A Tom Dixon bird chaise, the Meander Sculpture screen by Jacques Jarrige, and Sarah Fels's Fritz ottoman complemented the bold hues, wild patterns, and dynamic textures of the clothing.

Tom Corbett's 'True Romance' With Waldorf Astoria Magazine

Photographer Tom Corbett, wardrobe stylist Stacey Jones, and prop stylist Tara Marino partnered on "True Romance," a wedding story for the inaugural issue of Waldorf Astoria Magazine. Corbett made use of every corner in the luxury hotel, following a (pretend) couple from proposal-time at Bull and Bear restaurant to entering the Waldorf's Park Avenue entrance before the nuptials, and dancing on the Starlight Roof once they become man and wife.

Jones selected attire to complement each of the spaces: an Andrew Gn silk and jet beaded sheath for the engagement dinner, a pleated Barbara Tfank dress to check in, and gowns by Yumi Katsura and Monique Lhuillier for the big night. The groom doesn't look too shabby, clad in Brunello Cucinelli, Paul Stuart, and Ermenegildo Zegna suits.

Kareem Black for Vibe's 20th Anniversary

Vibe asked Kareem Black to capture the "#NewRules of R&B" for its 20th Anniversary Collector's Issue, which meant a photo shoot with musicians Janelle Monáe and Robin Thicke. Though the cover (one of three for the edition) was taken in front of a white backdrop, the team – including B&A prop stylist Tara Marino – headed to Lower East Side nightery Beauty & Essex for a series of party scenes.

"I wanted it to be a combination of studio work and environment pictures of people having a good time," Black explained. "Robin and Janelle played off each other really well. I think Robin is savvy about his image, and the same with Janelle. When she hit the set, I noticed she's completely aware of her character." That's not to say the pair didn't let loose. Thicke mounted a table, "but the whole time, he was wearing his shades," Black remarked.

He called the gig a huge honor: "When I was in college, I wanted to be in Vibe ... I remember going to bookstores and thinking, 'This is it.' I've always felt like I've had a relationship with the magazine, and this is the second cover I've done for it. So to participate in the 20th anniversary was awesome. Genuinely."

Once Upon a Holiday with Tom Corbett

    Tom Corbett's American Woman

Tom Corbett captures classic Americana denim for the August issue of Shape Magazine. The eight-page spread features the season's best denim trends.

The story was shot in a studio in New York City. B&A prop stylist Tara Marino collaborated with Corbett on the set. The original location was a ranch but due to weather and location availability, it was moved. Corbett says it turned out for the best, as "We were then able to make the story a bit less literal and more tongue-in-cheek!" Shape's Photo Director Toni Paciello has high praise for Corbett's work saying, "What I love most about working with Tom, is that he is always able to find an interesting angle or approach to our shoots- even when the story line is a fairly straightforward one, like denim. He helps bring that artistic element to the table on each shoot that we do, and finds a way to get great energy out of the models, that looks genuine & feels within the moment."

The August issue of Shape Magazine is on newsstands now.

Tom Corbett for Elite Traveler Magazine

Tom Corbett captures this season's ultra-feminine silhouette for the cover and a ten-page spread for Elite Traveler Magazine. The private jet lifestyle magazine covers travel, fashion, jewelry, jets, yachts, and more. The fashion feature, titled "Double Vision," features two models in fall and pre-fall designs from luxury brands such as Louis Vuitton, Gucci, Jimmy Choo, and Christian Louboutin. B&A's Liam Dunn did the makeup, Tara Marino styled the props, and Julie Kandalec did the manicures.

Corbett shot the spread at the Intercontinental Times Square Hotel in a large suite overlooking 8th Avenue. The young and fresh concept was to shoot the two models casually getting ready for a night out. The feature won rave reviews from the team at Elite Traveler. Joanne Genzone, the Contributing Creative Director, says his "creative use of light and reflection was extraordinary," and "he captured the essence of beauty with a luxurious, youthful glamour." Genzone adds, "The cover evokes a luxe, modern feel that speaks to our audience of elite affluent consumer." The President/Editor-in-Chief even called it one of their most special fashion stories to date.
