Dave Homer is an illustrator and designer dividing his time between New York City and Sydney Australia. He was once the Art Director at Sony Music before he left & co-founded a design and illustration studio called Debaser in 2003.
Debaser specialized in creative work for the music industry and ran successfully for 11 years. During that time, they created artwork for some of Australia’s biggest acts and picked up 4 ARIA Awards for Best Cover Art along the way. Some of his most successful work came from creating the illustrated visual language of hugely successful electronic band “Empire of the Sun”. He created illustrations for both the bands albums with each one winning the ARIA Award for ‘Best Cover Art” with their debut record also winning London's prestigious AANDAS Award for “Best International Cover Art”.
Dave still does music related work, but now concentrates on illustration and hand drawn typography. His work typically combines hand-drawn typography with illustration and his ever growing international client list includes Capital One Bank (USA), Whole Foods (USA), Kiehls, Polk Audio, Optus, IBM, Telstra, Vodafone, JetStar and Converse to name a few.
He has created editorial illustrations for a wide variety of publications, including Fast Company, Bloomberg Businessweek, White Horses, Time Out and more.
In addition to his illustration work, he also continues to paint murals with clients and projects spanning from Universal Music through to Columbia University (New York City), and is currently working on paintings for an upcoming third solo exhibition.
