Performing Arts

Tech & Innovation

Sensorium is constantly pursuing collaborations that push the boundaries of experiential technologies and immersive storytelling in the performing arts. Innumerable opportunities exist to augment existing shows and exhibitions or develop entirely new works with artists that want to push the possibilities of these expressive and interactive mediums.

Sensorium currently works with the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), Times Square Art Alliance, and the New York Theatre Workshop to produce VR experiences. Sensorium recorded Laurie Anderson for her Concert for Dogs in Times Square, choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker’s durational performances in the MoMA atrium, and developed an original experience in coordination with Geoff Sobelle for his recent staging of The Object Lesson.

Sensorium strongly believes that VR will become the digital medium of choice for the performing arts. Instead of merely placing a camera system between the stage and an audience, Sensorium seeks to find artists and directors willing to take a creative leap and explore new collaborative possibilities that fully utilize the expressive strengths of the medium.
