An Oculus Story Studio project, Dear Angelica is a simple and poignant tale: A girl who lost her actress mother at a young age reconnects with her by watching old films on a VCR. A VR-short created entirely for VR in VR, the film was illustrated by Wesley Allsbrook using a drawing tool called Quill that was developed for the project.
Neither static VR film or animation, The Verge describes the piece as “more like being dropped inside a moving painting, where everything feels simultaneously unreal and tangible.”
Premiering at Sundance as of the most lauded VR films to date, Dear Angelica was recently nominated for an Emmy.
“… might be the most beautiful virtual reality (we’ve) ever seen." – The Verge“
(This) is the film – and filmmaking tool – that VR needs.” – Wired
