The singer lives with her rodeo-champ husband Ty Murray and their new son on a 2,400-acre ranch. The sprawling, airy home reflects Murray’s cowboy practicality and Jewel’s feminine bohemian taste.

Fisher photographed Jewel and her family over the course of one day. Her house is rather large and sparse, with plenty of natural light. Fisher found the shoot very relaxing and with no real challenges. He calls Jewel, “very chill and willing to do whatever I asked, like climbing 20 feet up a tree in a dress for the final shoot.”

The January 2012 issue of InStyle is on newsstands now.

Short for “new geometry”, the movement was defined by Bickerton, Jeff Koons, and Peter Halley and was a mix of pop, minimalist, and conceptual art. He moved to Bali full time in 1993, searching for a refuge close to sea and surf. During Fisher’s visit, Bickerton was at work on new art for a spring show in New York as well as picking old art to be featured in an upcoming book.

Fisher spent four days on Bickerton’s compound, often wandering and exploring on his own. Bickerton designed the walled compound himself, drawing on such divergent inspirations as Polynesia and the Vikings. Within Fisher’s first hour at the compound, he witnessed Bickerton’s process in action. Describing it as “quite frenetic and free”, Fisher captured Bickerton throwing paint, mud and glitter on his sons, Kamahele and Django, and their friends on the patio outside of the studio. Bickerton’s sons will feature heavily in his upcoming spring show. The “Lord of the Flies” meets the neon jungle of Bangkok-themed show will include the boys posed as feral children.

Bobby Fisher recently photographed the Indonesian resort of Nihiwatu for T Magazine’s Winter Travel 2010 issue.

Bobby Fisher photographs the exclusive surf resort of Nihiwatu for T Magazine’s winter travel edition. Located on the remote Indonesian island of Sumba, Nihiwatu is home to one of the best surf breaks in the world. Adventurers flock to the eco-resort to test themselves against the legendary waves and to see one of the last Stone Age cultures on Earth. Claude Graves, one of only 3 Westerners living permanently on the island, has spent the last 20 years building the resort. It functions completely off the grid, producing much of its own food, electricity, and diesel fuel. In addition to surfing, Nihiwatu boasts world-class fishing, diving and snorkeling and land activities such as mountain biking, trekking, yoga, and massages.

Outside the gates locals live much as they have for hundreds of years, in small villages largely untouched by modernity. To protect the area’s unique culture, Graves has set up the Sumba Foundation, which builds health clinics, digs wells, and fights malnutrition. Visitors to the resort make up the majority of donations to the foundation.

Fisher photographed the resort and the local villagers over the course of 3 days on Sumba. The images of the surf were photographed in between wave sets from a boat in the channel using a 70 mm lens on a Nikon D3X. The reef break is shallow and the waves can get big quickly, creating explosive and heavy surf.
