Louis Vuitton: The Journey of A Man’s Wardrobe by The Selby
The Selby travels the world to document “The Journey of A Man’s Wardrobe” for Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2010-2011 collection. His first stop is Paris, where he visits the Louis Vuitton family house, workshop, fashion show, and studio. The Selby’s signature watercolor illustrations can be seen around the website as well. Shanghai, Tokyo, London, and New York will be launching throughout May, so be sure to keep checking the Louis Vuitton “Journey” website for updates!

Louis Vuitton moved production from Paris to Asnières in 1859. The Louis Vuitton family settled permanently in the rural town of Asnières in 1878. The floral motif stained glass bay window is by local artist Paul-Louis Janin, circa 1900.

The Louis Vuitton workshop in Asnières was the sole production facility from 1859 until 1977. The workshop recently reopened in 2005 after a year-long renovation. Architect Giles Carnoy extended the historic exterior, added an extra level, and updated the interior with new lighting, electricity, air-conditioning, and compressed air systems for sewing machines.

The artistic life and architecture of Vienna inspire a palette of graphite, brown, raven blue, clay, forest, stone, praline, horn and nude accented by neon green.

For the first time, Louis Vuitton opens the door of its studio for the final fittings of the Fall/Winter 2010 fashion show. The ready-to-wear studio is managed by Paul Helbers under the artist direction of Marc Jacobs.
