Douglas Friedman Gets to Know Ann Getty in Harper’s

Douglas Friedman stopped by interior designer and San Franciscan socialite Ann Getty‘s house for the 2012 October issue of Harper’s Bazaar. There’s no shortage of elegance or attention to detail in Douglas’ portraits and interior shots of Ann’s Pacific Heights residence.

Ann’s house is filled with ornate treasures from all around the world with paintings by Degas, Matisse, and Renoir decorating the walls. The furniture is covered in lush velvet fabric with golden arched legs that seem to root into the floors. Douglas captures several rooms in Ann’s house, showcasing the level of thought and detail put into the design. Three of the photographs are portraits of Ann. In one, she is standing in a sheer black floral lace top over a bright yellow taffeta dress. Her two dogs, Yankee and Dandee, sit regally at her feet. The second full page photograph of Ann pictures her slightly reclined in the music room in an Oscar de la Renta gown. The final picture of Ann shows her outside in her garden, posed casually in a simple Hermes jacket and Gap jeans.
