Bio: Tatiana Arocha is a visual artist from Bogota, Colombia living in Brooklyn, New York. Her artwork combines her passion for storytelling, whether childlike or intellectual, with an incredible attention to detail and refined sense of style developed over years as a graphic designer. Arocha is also an in-demand director and illustrator for a client list ranging from ad agencies like Wieden+Kennedy and JWT to TV networks such as Sundance and Vh1 to major brands including Mitsubishi and Anthropologie.

Recently included in Luerzer’s Archive of 200 Best Illustrators Worldwide, Arocha’s illustrations can be found in over a dozen design and art books published internationally. Her work has been used in apparel for Burton Snowboards and fashion designer Julieta Suarez. She has also produced designer product lines for Nookart, Australia and Lojja, Colombia.

Following a commission by Sundance Channel to create and animated art piece based on her illustration series entitled “Rainforest Sanctuary,” Yale University exhibited her eco-oriented work to coincide with the International Society of Tropical Foresters conference and the subsequent United Nations-hosted Conference on Environmental Governance and Democracy.

At a young age Tatiana made her mark on the burgeoning motion graphics industry and was recognized as a design icon by ResFest in 2006. After working at respected design studios such as Eyeball, Psyop, MK12, Tröllback, and Brand New School, she expanded her horizons with directing music videos for Funkstörung, Mocean Worker and Tosca, while her photographs were published in magazines such as Fader, XXL and the cover of The Village Voice.  During this time she also founded Servicio-Ejecutivo, an online-turned-physical art gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn focused on emerging artists. Still heavily involved in the arts community, she has curated over 80 exhibitions in the past decade.

Tatiana’s latest endeavor is the creation of Spanish-immersion music program “Acopladitos,” which she founded with members of Brooklyn indie band Balún. The trio have designed a comprehensive early childhood music education curriculum with classes currently offered throughout New York City, along with an accompanying book and CD.
